The Dragon Project

Set up in 2001 The Dragon Project harnesses an often ‘unhealthy’ interest in Motor Vehicles and channels that interest into a programme of education that combines ‘key skills’ with work-based ‘hands on’ learning around mechanics and fabrication.

All learning is project based and each new group of learners is responsible for the identification, design, construction and completion of their chosen project.

The Motov8 Bike Project
The Recycle Project

Around 145 million tonnes of waste are produced each year in the UK including an estimated 200,000 bicycles. A large amount goes to landfill, with a range of negative effects, social, economic and environmental.

Motov8 promotes Recycling and Reuse by teaching cycle maintenance, cycle design, business & entrepreneurial skills. Motov8 helps to reduce the number of bicycles going to Landfill through a Bicycle Recycling and reuse programme in which unwanted bicycles are collected and recycled.

Learners on this project receive tuition in cycle design, construction & maintenance and also business and entrepreneurial skills through a social enterprise involving the resale of refurbished bicycles and products made from cycle parts.

The project works to raise awareness of the need to more carefully manage our resources and not waste 'waste' The project also aims to encourage cycling as a means of sustainable, environmentally friendly transport and reducing reliance on the car.
