Around 145 million tonnes of waste are produced each year in the UK including an estimated 200,000 bicycles. A large amount goes to landfill, with a range of negative effects, social, economic and environmental. Motov8 promotes Recycling and Reuse by teaching cycle maintenance, cycle design, business & entrepreneurial skills. Motov8 helps to reduce the number of bicycles going to Landfill through a Bicycle Recycling and reuse programme in which unwanted bicycles are collected and recycled. Learners on this project receive tuition in cycle design, construction & maintenance and also business and entrepreneurial skills through a social enterprise involving the resale of refurbished bicycles and products made from cycle parts.
